Riding to Machu Picchu

This just came across my facebook feed. I’ve always wanted to go to MP. Maybe this is the way to do it.

Has anyone done it?

My barn owner and some friends did this ride (with this organization) 7-8 years ago and had an amazing time. You rode the horse all over the gorgeous mountains but did have MP as a day excursion where they drive you there. It was some pretty difficult terrain, though from what I remember she said the horses were fit and the people enjoyed good food (and wine).

Thanks, the itinerary looks amazing. And riding through the Andes has to be dreamy…

Look up Ride Andes - they have lots of amazing looking trips!

I have often thought that I would love to ride to Machu Pichu; have done other riding trips and enjoyed every one. But age and circumstances have seemed to get in the way. DO IT!!
Edited to add: I am a fussy and limited meat eater, so I’d be curious about the food. NOT fussy about my wine…

So I travel around 200,000 miles per year for work, many times to some remote places. I have a pretty iron-clad stomach yet Peru is the one place where I regularly seem to get sick. Not sure why.

Ugh, a friend of mine told me the same thing happened to her archeologist buddies…

But my mom went in her 60s and had a wonderful time
