Riding With Sunglasses

I absolutely hate wearing glasses of any kind with my helmet. After having PRK done on my eyes, the doc told me I have to wear sunglasses all the time. I picked up these gems and they are amazing! I don’t notice them when I ride and they fit nicely around my helmet.

Just wanted to share for those who hate wearing sunglasses while riding but need them all the same.

Never regarded it as a problem. I wear glasses all the time, so wearing prescription sunglasses while I ride, no big deal. Those are nice though, but I can’t see getting them in a prescription. LOL

Those are great. I have one K helmet with pull down sun glasses that will have to be retired someday soon and I might try these

I like my Maui Jim’s a lot and don’t feel them at all while riding.

SSG are good too, advertised more in the racing industrie but I have seen them around.

For outdoor wear i have prescription glasses with the lenses that darken in sunlight. Fantastic for being in and out of barns and out at sunset/ twilight

I didn’t like riding in sunglasses - they tended to slide down my nose too much. I started riding with an Equivisor with my helmet, which really helped, as well as shielding my face from the sun. Recently I found the Goodr sunglasses at a running store - supposedly very much anti-slip. So I tried them and they did great, so that is another option.

@Belowthesalt No probably not! They do keep the dust out of my eyes though.

@Magicboy I’ve been riding in them for almost three months now and they don’t slip or slide.

That’s interesting. So, they don’t have arms at all, do they? I have prescription sunglasses that have the straight arm that sort of wraps around, so they work well, but I wonder what no arms would feel like.

No they don’t. Honestly I forget they are there. I was specifically looking for a goggle type since my after care instructions included avoiding dusty areas.

This is what they look like on.

Croaks keep mine in place if I’m doing more than usually vigorous riding (i.e., when I was eventing and going cross-country)

Looks great, OP. You can also make any regular pair of sunglasses armless on your own. Remove the screw that holds on the arms, and thread some strong fishing line through the screw holes-- this will give you an anchor point for your headband. Then use croaks or other stretchy fabric to make a strap that goes around your head.

I wear glasses most of the time, too, and never had an issue riding in them. I try to take them off before going into the ring for a dressage test because I have to squint some, and judges think I’m smiling. Otherwise I look very serious.

That’s a great Idea. I have a pair of sunglasses I really like where the arm broke off. I’m going to make myself a pair!

I wear sunglasses made for running. They fit fine with the helmet, are lightweight and stable.
