Dick Sparrow of the 40-horse Hitch fame has died at 81

Sparrow not only drove a 40-horse hitch- he also drove one with 48 horses.
Amazing man. Amazing feat. A great loss of his passing…but we can thank him for leaving us a revival of driving that had been lost in time.
That is amazing! Can you imagine what it must feel like to hold the reins of 48 horses! Holy cow. I wonder if there are videos of him, I guess I have to go search youtube now
Thanks for posting this Elysian. It sounds like he had a very rich life full of love, family and fun! RIP Dick, drive those beautiful horses on the streets paved with gold, when we hear thunder that will just be Dick driving them in a gallop, on to Glory!
40 horse Schlitz hitch video
Here is Dick Sparrow and the Schlitz 40 horse hitch on video. Look how long it takes for the carriage to come into view. We were told there was a longish period of time when the front horses were out of view when turning a few corners on the parade route.
