Hope everyone went to the party yesterday in memory of her. We were so lucky to have had her with us for so long. Condolences to Sayre and the rest of her family. Dina, maybe you never wait for a conflict again.
Too sad
I remember riding with her and her father back at Central Park Stables in Bridle Trails. They were awesome. She will be fondly remembered.
Knew her at the end of her career. Gave great clinics. Her back gate work was as good as it gets. Overall, a wonderful person and a sad way to go. She will be missed!
Oh, no! Back when I still rode at the A shows (before becoming bill paying, responsible adult), I loved having Dina at the back gate. So sad. May I ask what happened? Condolences to Sayre and family.
Cancer. Couldn’t stop it in time. Many thanks to all those who donated to her medical fund to pay the medicare deductible. Last I heard they collected over 15K
my condolences
Dina was the grandmother I never had. She was always wiling to help and lend an ear to anyone that needed. She will be fondly remembered. RIP Dina
I treasure the years I spent training with her, and I will miss the wink and the “good job” (which meant so much more than just the words) when one of my horses and I put in a good round during her back gate years.
I’m sad I wasn’t able to make the memorial service, but her family is certainly in my thoughts and prayers.
Just found this after the note on the other thread. I’m so sorry to read this - Dina was a huge influence on me as a junior and a hugely valued mentor and horseman. From a beginner back at CPS through the Rockmeadow days, she was terrific, strict, and believed in us. Some of the lessons I hold most dearly about how to be a good competitor and a fair horseman come from her. PNWJumper - I know exactly what you mean about the wink and the good job coming from her: she was of few words, but they were the right ones.
I’m so sorry to hear about Dina. What a loss. She was always gracious and supportive. She always would go out of her way to say hello, and always had a nice word when I was having a bad day. Goodspeed Dina.
I just now saw that and wanted to add, albeit very late, my condolences. I was a CPS barn rat as well and remember her love of Rice Krispie Treats as well as her fearless riding.
I still have my first hunt coat, her old one bought at the old tack sale at CPS for 4$.
