He passed away from the infirmities of old age, having just turned 35 on May 11th. His Japanese owners took wonderful care of him all those years.

Sad to read of this but 35 is a ripe old age for a horse.
Maybe he wasn’t the sire to keep him in the US but successful and obviously well care for in Japan.
