RIP Russell Frey

Man it seems like we are losing an awful lot of great horse people this year. Hugs to his family and friends

Russell Frye? Or Russell Frey? If the latter, it’s a huge loss. (If the former - quite possibly a huge loss also, but I’m sadly not familiar with the name). Either way, my thoughts to all who loved him.

Russell Frey.

Awful. :frowning:

Sorry my phone autocorrected that incorrectly

My heart breaks for Russell’s family and friends. I had the privilege of riding with Russell for several years. I learned so much from him. He was an absolute horseman. Godspeed Russell, ride on my friend.

Condolences to his family and friends. This has been a rough year, and it’s still May. :frowning:

I rode with Russell Frey when he was still a teenager. Very talented and an excellent teacher. This is very sad.

RIP Russell. Too young. Had him as a judge once. One of the barn dads stood by near his judging box and said Russell gave a ongoing commentary of everyone’s rides. One pony ducked out and he said “Oh you nasty pony”. I had a chip and he said, “Dang it, there goes my first place ride”.

Oh, man, how sad!

What a terrible loss. Condolences to his loved ones.

So sad for all who knew and loved him. He was much to young. Thinking of his loved ones in this difficult time.

I had seen him the day before, and spoke to him just a few hours before…just talking about horses, life, or whatever. I was at a horse show, and I would call and tell him how things went, and get advice…he could always make me laugh. Getting on and riding the next day was one of the hardest things I ever have had t do, but I knew he would have wanted me to, so I rode with the thought in my head, "now what would Russell do here? He would gallop! So I did, and I won, and I cried all weekend…My heart is broken, and I will never forget him

RIP

Sorry to hear this. I rode with Russell as a junior in the 90s and have such fond memories. He always made showing and riding fun, possessing the unique ability to keep it light, no small feat with teenage girls!! Definitely one of the good guys. Thoughts and prayers to his family and loved ones.
