Just a note to recognize my sweet gelding Slick (aka Pfieffen’s Palette). I had him for almost 29 years. He fell the other morning while spooking at the tractor he saw almost every day. Injured his hip/pelvis. I figured he’d need to be put down before winter as he had really deteriorated over the last few weeks. He just sped up my timeline. This was him at 24 years old. He was a Trakehner/Pinto cross. I had a lot of success with him back in the day but stopped riding him many years ago. His trot was like sitting a post hole digger!
I’m so sorry for your loss – Slick sounds as though he was a real character. I imagine that those 29 years of togetherness have resulted in many a story.
So sorry for your loss. What a handsome fellow he was - love the freckles on his shoulder. And 29 - what a great age and testament to your care.
(In case you can’t tell, I have a soft spot for the oldies.)
Godspeed, Slick, handsome boy.
Know you gave him his Best Life & a good end.
He’ll join a large herd of COTH horses whose owners loved as you did, long & hard.
I’m so sorry! He was a handome guy and I know you’re heartbroken.
Sleep well, Slick.
So sorry for your loss!
Always hard to let them go. I’m sorry.
I’m so sorry! He was beautiful. My Tiki was a TB/Trakehner cross, so I have an enormous soft spot for Trakehners. Sending you lots and lots of hugs.
So sorry you lost him, he was a very handsome old man in that picture. Hugs.
I’m sorry for your loss, he was a beautiful horse.
So sorry for your loss
It’s so hard to lose them. You have my sincere sympathy.
Here’s to grand ol’ Slick. Godspeed, flashy boy, and say “hi” to all our friends on the other side of the Rainbow Bridge.
What a beautiful boy he was! I’m so sorry for your loss. You obviously gave him a long and happy life. Bless you.
My condolences. What a handsome horse. Godspeed Slick.
Susan
