Susan Harris passed away this week. Her classic book Grooming to Win has been on my bookshelf for as long as I can remember.

That book was my bible as far as horse care.
RIP
We called her Lady Harris at our stable. Susan was a remarkable person with an incredible love and deep understanding of horses. She had a terrific sense of humor and many great stories to tell. The horse community has lost a true gem.
A gracious lady, and remarkably humble about her achievements.
I remember when she posted on this BB, and I made a comment like “You’re not THE Susan Harris.” and she thought it was funny and said something like “Well, I’m A Susan Harris.” I had to go on about Grooming to Win and the Pony Club manuals before she fessed up that it was her.
She also went out of her way to help a friend of mine with a Pony Club issue, responding to a blind inquiry with a long detailed response and lots of resources.
She was an incredible woman who was so generous with her time and knowledge. The horse world has lost a special person.
Sad news. Grooming to Win was always my guide as well.
Condolences to her friends and family.
Love Grooming to Win. I had to buy it twice since one of my dogs ate my first copy! She sounds like a special person. Very sad.
