RIP Turkoman...

I was sorry to see this, although he clearly led a long and surprisingly happy life. This is a nice story, in the sense that people cared about him enough to take great care of him, long after he was of any use to them. Would that it always happened like this!

I also LOVED Alydar, so, of course, I thought his son was pretty awesome, too.

A stunning, amazing racehorse.

loved that article. What took me surprise was his syndicate members who were not willing to care for the horse after he was pensioned. would love to hear who those names were. Shame on them

How much is board at a stallion breeding operation? Esp if the difference took that much to make up? In other words, were the syndicate members willing to provide perfectly fine retirement board but not to pay for the many stallion services that he and they no longer needed? Would have been nice for the stallion farm to cut them a price break- but farms like that have high costs for staff, land taxes, etc and often need a high occupancy rate of working stallions just to pay the bills, and he took one space off line for that.

Good that they found a way to give him the specific arrangement he preferred.

How many syndicate owners may there have been?
Even if board was $1000 for retirement and there were 5 owners, that’s only $200/month. If they had enough money to buy into what was likely an expensive syndicate why can’t they put a very fraction towards the horse’s retirement?
