Has anyone had Rite Trac make there horse nervous/edgy?
I have two minis recently started on it, one diagnosed with glandular ulcers two month ago, since scoped clean and the other is gassy at times. I had them both on Benegest Pro which is probiotics and oat flour/soduim bicarb plus some other stuff. The vet wanted the “ulcer mini” on a stomach buffer so I stopped the Benegest and started Rite Trac. Three days in and I notice a difference in both mini’s energy level and took note of it. Energy is good, right? But now we are about 8 days in and the energy has turned into the kind of energy that’s no fun, they hot, spooky, jumping out of their skin nervous kind. They’ve both turned into fools
They are on a quarter dose, appropriate for their weight. Nothing else has changed. Would I do better to go back on the Benegest Pro and add something like Gastroade to buffer the stomach? Am I imagining this? If it was one mini, I’d write it off as coincidence, but the change in both has me wondering.
Thanks!
If you stopped the Benegest, and started the Rite Trac, what makes you feel it’s the addition of the RT, and not stopping the Benegest?
This is why it’s best to make changes one at a time. Me, I would go back to how things were - B but not RT, and see if they return to that baseline.
Then either add the RT, OR stop the B, but not both at the same time. If things are stable, then make the other change and see what happens.
Good point. I guess I didn’t notice the B made much (if any) difference in their disposition when I started it so I didn’t think stopping it would create an issue. Perhaps it has. I think your right and a return to baseline is a good idea. Thanks!
