RJ classics extreme softshell shadbelly/coat fitting

Hey everyone,
I am on the hunt for a shad, and have never had luck finding one. Luckily, when I was younger, I only did a handful if classics and waa lucky enough to borrow friends.

With the wonderful resurgence of derbies, more classics and also spectaculars, it is definitely time to purchase one. Unfortunately the only I found that fit, was the Equiline Mackenzie, yet my budget said no ma’am!!!

In regular show coats, I wear Grand Prixs, size 10s. Their soft shell shad is unfortunately does not fit the budget at this time either.

It has been suggested, I try the RJ classics. I went to the tack store next to my barn, and tried on the RJ classics Extreme softshell in a size 2 and it swallowed me. The 0 waslarge as well. (I must admit, I’m very petite and extremely flat chested and bony up top- no not enjoyable). Any who, I saw online that Smartpak carries the RJ classics Extreme Shadbelly in kids sizes up to size 20. Unfortunately, I cannot find a size chart. Does anyone know how they fit? Or do any other petite riders have experience with them? Any moms with children? My local tack store doesn’t carry shads, so it will be a special order, but they will price match.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Pardon the poor post!!! Talk to text. Edit button is still not working ??

Do not go the childrens route , they are cut square and a 20 in childrens , waist / chest would be almost a size 4 in an adult . did you try the 0 on ,also does it have to be a soft shell , I find the fit of those a bit off .

The 0 was big as well. The RJ in non softshell do not fit me at all.

It’s quite possible I have to bite the bullet and look at a different line despite the cost. Maybe ebay will have one.

I’m open to other suggestions.

when you say 10 s in a GP do you mean 10 Short or 10 slim

Call Equus now with your measurements they are Very helpful … http://www.equusnow.com/

Do not go the childs size route. Childrens sizes are shorter and wider as the sizes increase. Ladies are a slimmer and taller cut.

If the softshell doesn’t fit well I would try a wool blend fabric. I went up a size in the softshell jackets, so there’s a chance the 0 or 2 wool blend shad could fit even if the same sized softshell doesn’t. And because the softshells are so popular I bet you can find a good deal on the wool blend.

Hi,

I am very petite and have the RJ Classic Extreme stretch shadbelly in OOR and it fits great! I love it. I had the tails taken up a touch and the sleeves shortened up a bit but otherwise it fit great! I tried a lot of them and didn’t want to spend a lot on a custom one and also wanted one I could throw in the wash. I love mine!
