Rocking R Saddles

A friend’s coworker told me that Rocking R cutting saddles have been popular at her barn. I found one at a local tack store on consignment. I have it out on trial. Its hardly used and theyre asking 850 for it. No silver just light oil with a nice seat. I know I can get them down because its been unsold for about 5 months. I was told I can get a new rocking r cutting saddle for about $900.

I cant seem to find any listed at that price, not to mention I cant seem to find to many being sold online at all. I want to find the same saddle’s price new, hopefully to use as a barganing tool. Id love any help.

I had one and regret to this day ever selling it! They are hard to find used because everyone loves them. Over the years, the price has increased on them. Likely due to their popularity. After I sold mine to buy another brand, I hated the new one and sold it, then spent months looking for a used Rocking R that I could afford with no luck. I ended up with an Alamo, which I by the way love, but still miss my Rocking R. Maybe offer them $700.00 and see what happens.

Rocking R Cutting Saddles are about 1,400.00 new, they were 1,200.00 new several years ago when I used to sell them, they List for 1,800.00 to 1,900.00.

For a good used one 850.00 is a fair price, but being in stock for so long, 750.00 to 800.00 would be a reasonable offer.

.

I’m not sure where this person got her $900 figure. Maybe i misunderstood her, and she was buying a consignment one, not new.

I was going to offer $700. I don’t want to low ball her, but since its been sitting for a while with no bites.

That’s a fair price they are asking for it. I have three Rocking R saddles, they are worth the $.

Kerrits Microcord fan here-cool, comfortable, and fabulous for trail riding. You could not stuff them into half chaps or tall boots, but for trail riding or riding sans half chaps, I love them.

Just barely can you get a new one for $1000… and their popularity is growing. I think from what you said about it that it is a fair price for the saddle.

Not sure if it helps your search, but I got my Rocking R Reiner from Rods western palace, and they have it named the “STS Austin Reiner” on their website for some reason. It’s just a little over $1000 new, I got mine a bit lower because I bought it at an equine affair.

I adore mine, it’s really comfortable and it’s really beautiful. Sadly though it does not fit my horse, so I had to stop using it and now I’m just trying to convince myself to part ways with it.

I cant seem to find exactly which on it is on any site. It has a white horn, and is tagged as a “cutting saddle” per the owner, but I’m not sure that’s truely what it is. I’ll have to get a picture.

I usually ride in a cutting saddle, but i honestly am not sure what the differences are between a training, trail, cutting and roping saddle. I just know I dont want a barrel saddle.

are you sure it isn’t a barrel saddle? that horn sounds like it could be…

it is not a barrel saddle per my trainer. The horn is rawhide with some kind of clear resin over it. dosen’t sit like a barrel saddle.

But it really doesn’t matter anyway. My horse is too short coupled for the saddle. Requested they email or mail me a catalog, cant seem to download it from the site. Hope they can make me something custom or i can find a dealer.
