Especially since he did that first as soon as he got a pen!
I don’t know when they started letting the fans come out into the ring for autographs after the class, but that is a nice touch.

This is a very cute video they posted yesterday of the rider and the groom talking about the horse.
I hope he gets to go out and eat grass in his paddock tomorrow.
I always thought the family connection between Christian and Checker was wicked cool:
If there’s anything at all to bloodlines, that kid they just had last night should already be shortlisted for the Olympics in about two decades or so. Lol.
Yes indeed. Unless she prefers skiing or skateboarding, ballet, chemistry, physics, or any other choices that aren’t horsey… You never can tell.
I think it’s part of USEF’s trying to appeal to more non-horsey people. From the COTH article:
"Look out, tennis. Move over, golf. The equestrian world now has its own U.S. Open—three of them, in fact—designed to elevate the profile of Olympic horse sports and bring in new fans.
One of the major goals of the US Equestrian Open project is to increase fan engagement and bring new people in from outside the sports."

Somebody better remind them to get her a Social Security number and dual passport on Monday!
Honestly, now that you say that, I was totally thinking about that when the commentators mentioned during the Thursday class that the kid could arrive at any moment.
I wasn’t sure if they meant the kid could literally arrive any day, so I sort of wondered if they would rather have the kid after they got home. But it turned out they were not exaggerating one bit! Lol.
Oof. Thank goodness it didn’t do that last night.
Yeeesh!!!
Wow!
The announcer is like “SPENCER. Get.Out.Of.The.Ring!”
- Boom - Flash -
Spencer: “OK if you insist.”
The weather can be so crazy there.
I remember I think nine years ago, there was one week with some really bad weather. And on one of the days, they delayed the start of the horse show for two hours because I believe there was a tornado warning for the early part of the day.
But the storm system blew through right on schedule, and at 10 AM, the horse show started like clockwork.
I think they even ended up watering the rings before the day was over. I don’t know if the rings actually needed the water after the storm in the morning, or if it was just from force of habit.
But a little thing like a tornado warning was not going to stop the horse show from continuing as usual. Because… horse people.
The other funny thing about Wellington is the weather can be so different from one spot to the next. It can absolutely pour at the horse show without a drop of rain at your barn a mile or two away. Or vice versa.
I’m 10-15 minutes from the show grounds and we did not have that weather today.
My mother lived in Jupiter at the end of her life and always talked about the “4 PM cloud.”
That is a summer thing here. You don’t even have to look at the clock to know what time it is lol
It was so funny because we really were so lucky with the weather this year! Wellington was like “Time to get out!”
A quick question. I feel silly asking. What does the red ribbon in the FRONT (forelock area) mean? Is it just a caution that he horse may kick, and they really want to make sure you know coming or going, or does it mean something different in front? Thanks.
