Rolex Live Stream/Results/Comments thread

The ladies are not being too kind to FYI and her rider … “the stirrups are adjustable” chortles Karen O’Connor…not sure what she meant by that, but they don’t like Liilian herd not going forward on a nervous horse.

“went a little prey animal on her” – nice one.

It looks to me like the New Zealand’s judge’s final score has usually been the highest of three for most of the riders, but it is a almost 5% higher than the next highest for Mark Todd with nearly 8% to the lowest.[/QUOTE]

Not dissimilar to Jung’s:

E: 80
C: 77
M: 73

Or Muggle’s for example:

E: 58
C: 54
M: 53

I don’t think you can call conspiracy on that. He is the lowest percentage on a few as well which is interesting. He could have a preferred type.

70% chance of Tstorms tomorrow there, here too… so I think live stream sounds pretty darn attractive at the moment. I attended Rolex in the rain one year, I had mud from the top of my head to my toes and I was just a spectator!

Boyd Martin is such a lovely rider, and hooray for OTTBs at this level and competing against warmbloods.

A horse named Blackfoot Mystery should not be a chestnut.

Good observation.

What is the deal with these tall riders (mostly the guys) and their knees hanging over the front of the saddle? I have seen it three times now, but at this level it must be just how the saddle is built.

As someone with a 36" inseam…its hard to find a saddle that contains all body parts at all times…

I love this sport where no matter how old you are, you can compete at this level, and women compete on an equal field with men, doesn’t matter your age or gender, it’s all about talent and guts.

A touching story about Mighty Nice, too.

Wow Arthur … his A game is one of the best in the world!

And Arthur was so on his game, I wasn’t holding my breath for the blow-up.

Can’t wait to see his cross-country! The Allison-Arthur partnership is the stuff of horse-book drama.

I friggin love Arthur!! Well ridden, beautifully done. I was holding my breath with every stride.

A great afternoon of dressage with the best for last.

I didn’t realize that Mikael Jung had broken his leg and still finished a cross country course then rode a week later! What a competitor!

“The stirrups are adjustable” is a comment to say that they don’t know the whole story since they aren’t on the horse. In other words, if you think you could do better, you’re welcome to try since the stirrups are adjustable (for another rider). They were saying that despite their observations, they didn’t know the horse or the ride as well as Lilly, so couldn’t be too critical

Bruce Davidson broke a few ribs and finished cross country at Rolex and got right back on another horse and did it again a little while later.

So happy for Allison Springer and Arthur!

Petty of me, but I hate seeing ML doing well when we know how hard she is on her horses. Hopefully Demeter makes it through xc tomorrow without a bloody mouth.

Very strange that there isn’t a North American on the Ground Jury. We’ve got a NZLder, a German, and a Brit. Surely we have a 4* qualified judge who doesn’t have a child in the competition.

Yay for Arthur! Maybe Jung will have some competition after all. Let’s hope Arthur doesn’t mind the weather for the next two days.

If they let the stirrups out too long, they can’t make contact with the horse’s side and use the spur. So they ride short.

I was naughty and did a bit of livestream watching while at work today. I was delighted with Arthur bringing it at the eleventh hour and I am ecstatic that OTTBs are well represented at Rolex this year. I typically take personal leave time during the Summer Olympics and must start doing the same for Rolex. I couldn’t take my eyes off the live-feed!

Sandy Phillips (Nee Pflueger born in Hawaii) was a member of the U.S. Olympic Dressage Team and rode in two World Championships. Her father; http://khon2.com/2014/10/15/pflueger-in-court-for-ka-loko-dam-sentencing/

Anyone know if USEF Network is showing tomorrow’s jog?

Yes and no.

But most are just not that comfortable in longer stirrups because they also ride in shorter ones and their horses are more use to leg cues being higher.

A lot of dressage only riders have long legs (and spurs) that go past their horses’ sides and you won’t see knees in front of their pads.

It’s totally ok! It’s really hard to master both dressage and jumping, let alone going on the cross…

I’ve met Mark Todd and he is quite tall (the horse in the picture is 16h3) and yet, his knees don’t go in front of the flap.
