Rolex Live Stream/Results/Comments thread

why are you quoting me and talking about JP?

Allison is a class act, she does what is best for the horse, but he is known to be a tough horse with a lot of spook. You sometimes can’t train that out, it just is the way they are.
I quoted you because I was agreeing with you. You had quoted JP’s above comment, but this forum doesn’t do nested quotes.

Well, that was fun!

ok, I like to be agreed with  not sure if you just pushed the wrong button.

I didn’t think Arthur looked as sharp as he has in the past. He was very looky at the big ditch and brushes at the beginning, and he did seem to dwell in mid air over several of the jumps. But ah, well he is a character we won’t soon forget.

Some really terrific riding, especially right at the end when the ground was so disadvantageous.

Michael Jung put on another clinic, and Phillip Dutton puts all three in the top ten. Both Lauren Kieffer and Boyd Martin get two in the top ten. Those are some major accomplishments.

Only Maya Black, and Buck Davidson were able to break the strangle hold those four had on the top placings.

As far as I could see no major wrecks, so very well done Derek Di Grazia! That is proper course design.

All in all a very good show.

I want to marry Michael Jung (disregard the fact that I am already happily married and too old for him). He sure seems like the real deal - nice guy, good sport, great rider, true horseman. I hope we never find out otherwise.

Love Lauren!

So happy to see Maya, Mackenna, Jordan all get round - go Area VII! (even if Maya and Mackenna aren’t based here now).

Think I decided while watching that I want to retire somewhere where I can go to Rolex KY every year!

And understand I am an Allison Fan, but it was not her horse today.
It WAS her horse. He spooked and overjumped the ditch, leaving him with nothing to get up the hill and get to the skinny at the right distance. There was not a damn thing Alison could have done. You need to hit all of those elements exactly right and make the right strides to get over that skinny set at the top of a hill.

The horse was clearly both strong in the hand and sucked back the whole way around. I can see how it would look like she doing a lot of holding and tugging, but that horse wasn’t paying a lick of attention.

Did you see him spook at the umbrella as soon as he finished the course and came to a walk?

I’ve only seen her ride on Veronica so far, but I agree! I was struck by how quietly she rode the whole round. So impressive.

I’m loath to ever blame the horse, but I have to agree. Arthur was backing off before A. Sure, it was Allison’s job to get him through, but like Karen said “This isn’t the first ditch you’ve ever seen, Arthur!” Arthur chose to not play ball when he could have, and that’s what’s so disappointing.
No, Allison let him down. He had the ride in him, but she held him back too much.
I completely disagree. He paused a hair at almost every fence out there, was definitely not in attack mode. She got the job done as far along as she could, he quit on her. Even the way he went the first half of the course that’s not a feeling I’d ever want on such a big track. She was talking him into it the whole time. He’s a horse with a lot of miles and he wasn’t feeling it today, it’s not wrong to say so, and I don’t think she let him down at all.

Yes, THANK YOU Derek Di Grazia! I am starting to lose my fear of watching Rolex because of fear of catastrophic injuries or deaths.

Great show!

JP60, what do you think she should have done then? what exactly can you do? More leg and whip wouldn’t have helped, it was more then just lack of energy.

he was looking for a way out, not a way over the jump, the whole time. that is the worst thing for this course.

Aw, what a bummer. I had a feeling that was going to happen. Oh well. At least they made it around the course safely.

I don’t imagine MJ having 2 rails tomorrow. Him and his mare make such an exceptional pair.

I think they said 56 finished today. I wonder how many will not show for the trot up or how many will pass it to be able to start?

I thought that Michael Jung and Lauren Kieffer had the three best looking rounds of the day. I like Veronica, but I love Monte CArlo…

Nice, they have the rounds up on demand!

So far only Jung’s…nevermind there are are bunch up now.

Looks like USEF network is getting the individual x-country rides up very quickly - great opportunity to see the complete rounds of riders who didn’t get much live coverage. Here goes another couple of hours…

Thanks USEF Network!

Does anyone know if there will be a replay of the whole cross-country part? I missed much of it because I went…riding.

Thanks.

yeah, they have the broadcast of 2015 up. I don’t know when they will get it ready. Its the actual tv footage, not each round in it’s entirety.
