Speaking of horses, I read somewhere (and can’t find it again) that Jung’s actually not pointing either FischerRocana or his wonderful Sam for Rio, but rather still another top horse, FischerTakinou! Kind of amazing…[/QUOTE]

yes, he has quite a string.

Couple of Rolex photos. GREAT shot of Lauren Kieffer at the HOTL. Another fabulous shot of me and ?? See if you can guess.

LOL! No, but I had the sudden urge to say “losgelassenheit”!

BOTH good looking.

H&H has a VIP column where Mark Todd raves about Rolex, even with the conditions. He loved the XC course, which he said was clever.

Sunday’s track was clever. It asked questions with changes of direction and different lines. The tight time pushed riders out of their rhythm, causing mistakes. To jump on this fantastic surface makes it such an even playing field — it is the way to go for all four-stars.
He also says most riders would not be able to get Fischerrocana through a 3*, but that she trusts MJ completely.
Michael Jung was at his brilliant best. I think a normal rider would struggle to get FischerRocana FST round a three-star, but she trusts him implicitly and responds all the way to his utter determination across country.

He also said that he knew in the first minute that he was going to be struggling to get near the time on a cuppy track; that his horse likes to run “on top” of the ground, and is only 27.5% TB, so (one assumes he is saying) lacks innate stamina.

Thanks for sharing, Viney. That’s high praise for Rolex, coming from someone like Mark Todd, and really nice to hear good news about XC course design (for once). Also, I’m not sure anyone BUT Mark Todd could get away with quite such a backhanded compl-insult to the horse that won Rolex.

So cool to see Mark Todd and Blyth Tait running! Larksmom gave me a video of the Gawler 1986 World Championships a few years ago (as they were called) where both Mark Todd (Charisma) and Derek diGrazia (Sasquatch) were competitors. One has to hope they got together at Rolex to re-hash old times, and for Mark to compliment Derek on his fabulous courses. Ginny Leng won that year on a brutal XC course.

He was not and has not been the only one to say that. I’ve even said that. She is a lovely horse but not super special. There are many horses there much more scopey and much fancier movers. BUT she has been beautifully produced/trained and is ridden extremely well. They are a lovely partnership and extremely competitive because of that partnership. That said…I would love to have her in my barn!!!

I don’t think it is an insult to the horse at all. It’s a compliment to the team and especially to MJ’s riding and system.

I admire him incredibly and what he does. I aspire to be like him. That said I can’t train my horses precisely the way he does, because he relies on things like “never missing to the fences.” I just can’t promise my horses to deliver on that! he is just incredible and I love reading about his training program and watching him ride! I’ve said this before but he needs to market DVDs or something called “MJ Schooling Horses at Home” that are like 10 hours long and just him riding different horses at home. I would buy it!

just watching the Badminton livestread, and unless MJ just kissed his sister on the mouth, looks like he doesn’t live in a nunnery and ride 24/7 (as everyone purported upthread) and he DOES have a girlfriend

He definitely has a girl friend.

Does she ride? Inquiring minds MUST KNOW! lol

Yes, she does.
