So I am slowly getting my arena in shape. FInally found the right guy and I now have new sand and an irrigation system. THe new sand is rather soft - I know it will work down over the coming months, especially if we get a typical wet summer.
Has anyone used a “lawn roller” to help pack the arena sand? I have a very old JD Gator to pull it with and reviews of the manufacturers are mixed.
I have a metal roller (not sure the material but it weighs a TON) that I used to use to roll my arena before it was supposed to rain. Helped the water sheet off of it so it dried out quicker. Is that what you’re looking to use the roller for? Do you have something to drag your arena with as well?
yes that was my question - if anyone had one. DO you remember the brand? I see metal ones that are heavy but seem to have some weld issues, and lighter poly ones that seem to get holes in them… So, dont know what to consider! I have a Dragonfly drag that is very adjustable and also a typical chain drag that I use upside down to smooth it out. Wondering about something to “pack it down” a bit. (NO I dont groom it deep - …)
The blackboar.com website has cultipackers, rollers, etc that are designed for small mowers and atvs to pull if it helps.
