Rose Tree Hunt exhibiton yesterday

Did any COTH folks go to this yesterday, Sunday 5/18?

It was held at the original hunt club grounds in Media PA, celebrating 105 years they were there (1859 - 1964). The club is now located in York, PA and about 20 members came down with the hounds and a mock hunt was held. There were presentations from the York members.

Very nice rememberance to days long gone.

I was there - one of the 20 members who rode! We had a lovely weekend celebrating the history of Rose Tree, including a Saturday trail ride in Ridley Creek State Park, historic tours, a lovely cocktail party, and the festivities Sunday at Rose Tree Park.

very cool! Glad you enjoyed it. I had some Rose Tree items set up under the tent.

It breaks my heart to see what has happened to all of the ground in the effort to make it a park. I kept my horse there in the '60’s and remember SO much.

Rose Tree hunter trials back in the early '60’s were the most fun…

What has happened to it?

What has happened to it?[/QUOTE]

Race track, judges stand, grand stand, paddock torn down, timber fences and brush jumps torn down, kennels, upper barn, torn down, white fencing all around property torn down, ground flattened and paved, remaining barn turned into offices, Club House somewhat recondiditoned (beautiful french doors in the front room that looked out to the race track replaced with something else, stucco slapped on in a lot of places. I didn’t go inside so I don’t know what they did there).

What bothers me the most is the way they completely re-configured the land. Hills and slopes that were there are now flat, an amphitheater was put in the middle of the front field, parking lots everywhere. And they planted wierd trees that look fake.

All of that land and the trees were beautiful as they were. This “building” a park really stinks.

I would’ve been there had I known about it. What a wonderful anniversary.
