Roundness: English vs. Western

Pocket Pony, question for you. Since you’ve been taking what sounds a different approach to things since you wrote this post, have you noticed any difference in lipstick/foam with your guy? I included this in this thread because it kind of went along with the collection and engagement question I thought.

Wow, froglander, it is so interesting that you posted that because after my ride today I was thinking, “Mac’s mouth isn’t foamy at all!” And the reason I noticed it is because he had his bridle on but I was working him with a neck rope primarily.

I was actually just coming here to tell you I updated my blog and Mr. PoPo videoed me today. I broke the session up into two videos - one with ground work and one with riding. For the ground work video I was trying to see how much I could do with one finger on the rope in directing him. For the riding portion, I was mainly using the neck roped, but there was a time or two where I had to take the reins post-spook and to reiterate bend. But at the end of the ride . . . no foam even though he was carrying the bit.

Interesting though and funny you brought it up!

Thanks for the link Paula. I’ve watched almost all Brendan Wise’s videos today! I’m going to try some of the ground work with my horse. I need more thinking exercises for her.

You’re welcome. He blew my mind so I am trying to spread the word about him. I use his methods too now. For example the fix for curling (I’m the one asking him about Fella came to me as a curler).

Lol, too funny!

I played with some groundwork tonight and had a relaxed, but good ride I think. I’ve watched part of your videos, you guys look nice!

Where did you get your neck rope?
