Roy Doty Pony Cartoon

I have been going through a lot of stuff from my father’s house (he died in 2008) to put in an estate sale. One of the things I found is a signed (“Doty”)watercolor (I think) on thick paper of a galloping pony, ridden by a female rider in show attire. The paper is a bit torn around the edges, but the tears do not affect the picture or the signature.

I have no doubt of its authenticity. My mother was a school teacher, and Didi Doty, Roy Doty’s daughter, was one of her students. In addition, my sister taught riding lessons to Didi, and one of her friends. I am sure it was something Didi gave to my mother, and it lived on a bulletin board just inside the back door for many years.

Does anyone have any idea how I can find out what, if anything, it is worth?

You should find a trainer appraiser, better if they’re certified or accredited through AAA: https://www.appraisersassociation.org/find-an-appraiser . If you are doing an estate sale through a traditional auction house, they may have an in-house appraiser or have a preferred list but you don’t have to have to use that list, typically.
