Royal Ascot on NBC/NBCSN

Just a heads up that the Royal meeting at Ascot starts tomorrow (Tuesday 19th) and NBC Sports Network will be televising it live stateside.
On Saturday they will be carrying coverage on the regular over the air NBC channels from 8am to 12pm CST (ironically, the Saturday card is traditionally the weakest, with the bigger races historically run on weekdays).

Five days of top notch racing, first race on the card on opening day tomorrow is the G1 Queen Anne Stakes 1m.

11 American trained runners headed over this year.

It wasn’t until recently that Royal Ascot even raced on Saturday. It used to be a Tue-Fri card but Saturday was added so more of the working people could attend

TVG has also said they will be covering Royal Ascot. Right now I have both channels set up to record to make sure to get both and see what coverage is “best”.

Tomorrow Lady Aurelia will be racing in the 5f King’s Stand Stakes (G1) to defend her title. She’ll be going against 13 other horses. John Velasquez will be up; Wesley Ward is her trainer.

If you haven’t see Royal Ascot, the pageantry is amazing. I love watching the Queen come down the racing lane in her carriage and entourage. She is always impeccably turned out and never repeats an outfit during the 5 days. Love watching all the trainers in their top hats and morning coats in the royal enclosure (mandatory attire). The ladies’ outfits are also lovely (specific rules for what the ladies’ outfits also must be… sleeves, hats, you name it).

No spoilers here – but

I love it when the horse I pick wins the big race! Yay!

Re: the Royal Procession, I’ve been wondering what the Queen and her companions were looking down at. Today the commentators said they have been examining the footing, the impression of the carriage wheels on it, etc.
