Royal Classic frozen...anyone use it?

I’m considering Royal Classic (Royal Highness/Florestan) for one of my mares. http://www.superiorequinesires.com/stallions/royalclassic.shtml

He is a relatively young stallion, but I’m wondering if anyone has tried his frozen and what their experience was?

Thanks for any info you may have!

I wrote to Flax Lion Stud who stand this stallion to inquire myself. They kindly wrote back! and said that RC has had foals via frozen in Australia or NZ, I forget which. I don’t think he was available to us before now? Anyhow, I took a chance and purchased some for this year. Fingers crossed.

Thanks!

I heard from someone in Australia (on Facebook) that has had quite a few foals and is very happy with the quality of his frozen. I just figured I would check to see if others have experience with it.

I think I’m gonna take a chance and order some myself. I think he would cross very nicely with one of my mares.

Linda - the foals are pretty nice.

Judy Yancey brought in Royal Classic frozen semen last year, and there are apparently somewhere around a dozen foals expected in the U.S. this year that were bred with that frozen. She still has doses in stock ($750@).

He looks beautiful. Maple Brook…what kind of mare are you using with him?

oh goodie! Pregnancies in the US!!! Thanks for the info. I’ll check in with Judy!

I do believe that seals it. He is going to SPS Destiny (Desert Moon - Wesley). :D:D

Thank you for the clarification. Looking at the web site and Facebook pages, they contain both website addresses and appear to be in partnership. whether they are or not partners, I have no idea, but that is how it appears on the public face of things.
Glad to hear the foals look good and that there will be foals in the US this year.

Flax Lion owns some stallions also located at Gestüt WM and I think she is looking after the webpage of Gestüt WM. Gestüt WM has a few stallions not owned by them that the manage. Good concept for those who do not want to manage an own station or would not want to invest the needed money. (all these regulations over here when you want to send semen…)
The Windelers are also Royal Classic’s breeders. the same as they are for Benetton Dream and the stallion Winterprinz that is located in the US and for my taste should really get some more business and attention than what it seems from reading e.g. COTH Forum.

So, has anybody seen or heard of any Royal Classic foals via frozen being born in the US now?

Down Yonder, perhaps you could supply some names of those who got pregnancies, and where did you get your info? Because now I’m getting private emails about failures with vets saying the semen is not good, and I’d like to know more about the info you posted here? I haven’t tried it yet, but planning on doing so. I know it is all a risk, but you posted here with saying there were “several” pregnancies, and it would be helpful if you could substantiate that statement. I haven’t seen a single post about a Royal Classic pregnancy in North America, and I’m wondering why. My money’s already been spent, and I’m hoping not to get skunked.

Flax Lion keeps semen for Gestuet WM as Flax Lion is the semen export service for Gestuet. There are also stallions that go back and forth between the 2 farms as they work in partnership. Flax Lion is located in the UK and Gestuet WM is in Germany. I go through Flax Lion when I import their semen and they are wonderful to work with. It’s been reported to me that Royal Classic has good post thaw progressive motility and good pregnancy rates.

Just got confirmation of a Royal Classic pregnancy from another breeder. I am very glad to hear of it, because we just bred a mare to RC here.

And today I am very happy to report we have a Royal Classic pregnancy also!

Congrats Indy-Lou! Which mare did you use the RC on?

Just checked our Donnerhall/Pik Bube mare this afternoon and we have a Royal Classic embryo with a heartbeat!

Nancy, the Ulft mare. She is also approved AHS. Congrats on your heartbeat too! This is our 1st breeding of the year so far.

Alexandra - that is funny that you say that! I love Winterprinz and was interested in him for my mare. I searched extensively and there is no video of him online that I can find, and only 4 photos on the Yarra Yarra website. I emailed asking for video & more photos but never got any. I even tried to go out of my way to see him in person at a show but could never get an answer regarding what day and what classes he would be showing in. I think the problem with Winterprinz is not his quality but his owner’s marketing. Breeding may not be the owner’s focus and that is fine. But I don’t want to breed to a stallion unless I can see how he moves and his conformation.

Reviving this old thread to have breeders check in on their Royal Classic foals. What did they see with regard to improvements over their mare overall, temperament, size? I’m particularly interested in hindquarter connection and correctness. Pictures would be just wonderful too!

I’d be keen to see foals and hear opinions too. RC really caught my attention early on, I like his look, nature seems nice, and his pedigree is really really strong.

But he never quite seemed to take off as a sire of choice. ?
I ended up using Furstenball instead.

I have had 2 exceptional foals by RC out of my Diamond Hit mare - A filly last year and a colt this year. The DH mare is slightly older style with a big body, long-ish back and shorter legs. The filly is very modern and leggy; while the colt takes after the dam a bit more, but still a huge improvement. Both are tremendous movers with extremely free shoulders and good hind legs. I have kept the filly for my program and the colt sold to someone who is planning on raising him as a stallion prospect.

Here is a link to some photos of the foals:

Here is a link to a video of the colt. The filly moves exactly the same.
