I saw someone with some frozen for sale and was wondering who had used it in the past and the quality of it? Also thoughts/opinions on this stallion? I can’t find a video clip anywhere so would love to hear from anyone with firsthand knowledge of him or offspring by him. Thanks!
I can’t claim to know much about Royal Dance’s offspring, but a truly stunning mare by him, Roulette, has just been scanned in foal to my stallion (H Tobago). She is registered Oldenburg, but her damline is Trakehner, and she’s graded into the Hanoverian Main Stud Book.
I’m not sure how to post photos or pedigrees on here: the box at the bottom says I’m not allowed to post attachments - is there something one has to do to get permission? If someone can explain and I can fix this, I will post a photo and pedigree of this really super mare for you.
Sorry, I joined ages ago but have never posted before (a bit scared as I am new to the sport-horse breeding world). Just happened to see a question I could - sort of - answer!
OK I’ve fixed it so I can post attachments, but still not sure of the correct way to do this on here
Assuming the normal method of posting links works - here is the super Royal Dance daughter Roulette’s pedigree:
Oh
She looks like a lovely type! I just wished I knew if the semen was really good quality or not as he does seem like a lovely boy.
I’m so sorry I couldn’t help on the semen-quality question. I will ask this mare’s owner if she knows anything about this, or can find out for you.
If Roulette is a representative example of Royal Dance’s offspring (which again I’m afraid I don’t know), he would certainly be worth considering. She does have a superb damline too, of course - but then I expect your mare is also very well bred?!
I asked Roulette’s owner, but I’m afraid she doesn’t know about RD’s semen quality. (She didn’t breed the mare.)
Sorry about this - hope you can find out elsewhere, and that his frozen is good!
Thanks anyways, appreciate the effort!
He’s the sire of Royal Hit who is out of Loretta.
There are about eight squillion Royal Hit foals in Australia where he now stands. They are pretty uniformly impressive (even out of crap mares) and are all stamped with that particular look which I am guessing comes from the Rohdiamant in them. All very good movers, pretty good temperaments. Royal Hit is a beautiful stallion in person with bucket loads of presence but is unsound- and it has never been said exactly where or why.
I like the sound of Royal Dance a lot, it’s funny he’s not really made much of a splash.
Not sure if this will help or not, but Dr. James Hassinger / Hassinger Farms – Aberdeen NC stands a Royal Dance son, Rakas… Dr. Hassinger may have some data for you on semen quality etc. that might be useful. http://hassingerfarm.com/stallions.html
As an aside, we saw Dr. Hassinger at a show a few months ago with a Sandro Boy stallion son… can’t be many of those around.
