Royal Highness Brand Saddles

A local tack store started carrying these. I’ve thus far avoided them out of dislike of new things/snobbery/uncertainty regarding resale value. At this point in the saddle search, I’m willing to reconsider.

Who makes them? And where? Googling didn’t turn that info up.

I’ve been looking at them online also. Have you seen one in person? I’d like to know what the leather looks and feels like. I’m not expecting great but good would be nice.

Sent you a pm

Ask the tack shop?

I have never heard of them and I am in saddle shopping hell with you :joy:

I did. The sales associate wasn’t sure. They’re ok looking. I’d just feel better if I knew they were the 2nd or 3rd line of an established brand.

@js, they look roughly comparable to an HDR or Collegiate. While some are foam panels, the models around the $1k mark seem to be wool-flocked. I plan to swing by the store again tomorrow. Will take a more careful look & report back

Thanks for that info! I’m also looking at the M. Toulouse, the leather looks nice on the new models. The issue I’m finding is there are a lot of saddles but not in stock and no projection as to when they will get some. I admit I’m a leather snob but sadly on a tight budget or at least till the CWD I have on consignment sells, then I have a bit more wiggle room on selection.

Call Classic Saddlery, they carry the Royal Heritage line which is supposed to be the same Royal Highness Brand, the dressage saddles look exactly the same. I’ve always found the owner to be very helpful.

Thanks again appreciate it, there are no tack shops within 4 hrs of me so I only have online to shop and no fitters in this state or close in the neighboring states.

And they had no literature, either?
I’d call and ask when a more knowledgeable staff member was due to be in store.
I’m also assuming you used the Google?
Ask on Plaid Horse?

Nope. And while I should’ve asked outright in my original post, I was also wondering if anyone actually owned a Royal Highness/Heritage  I mean, I assume they’re made wherever saddles like HDR & Circuit are made. So, Argentina? India?

The store in question is a large consignment tack store. They’ve started stocking new items to round out their inventory. If dealer territory protections in tack work the same as they do in the music industry, I assume there’s a couple large wholesalers from which tack stores can buy stock from “open-territory” brands. These are a lot nicer than the Courbette another local store seems to buy as fill in. At least to my eye.

@js, from poking around, I get the impression that the woman at Classic may be the designer for them. I’ll probably give her a call. For a pony rider, it would be an absolute no-brainer – $595 for a 15" W tree saddle with leathers & safety stirrups included. By contrast, there’s a $5999 “Baby Butet” floating around :exploding_head:

If it’s the same Royal Highness I am thinking of, they are the manufacturer of Smartpak’s Piper breeches in India… so I’d guess their saddles/tack are made there as well.

Riding Warehouse sells them, along with the rest of the products RH makes - an Indian company more known for riding clothes. Perhaps try calling them to ask? I’m guessing they’re solid enough basics made of lower quality materials, hence the price point.
