Royal Rider Stirrups - which flavor?

This weekend I landed up borrowing a saddle because I flew in, and also borrowed stirrups which happened to be the Royal Rider kind. I really liked them so wanted to buy some, then see they come in 3 varieties, regular, flexible, and offset/angled. Hmm. I currently ride in the Herm Sprenger flexible ones, replaced with foot bed with the cheese graters. But these Royal Riders have a wider footbed (also with cheese graters) which seemed to make the stirrup more secure. Has anyone tried the different varieties, any thoughts on which work best? I do the jumpers…

I like the regular ones. If I were you get ones like the ones you borrowed since you liked them.

I have the flexible ones with the cheese graters. (I don’t do the jumpers, but I do fox hunt and they’ve not failed me, even on the most disgusting days.) I really like the flexi ones, they’re not nearly as bendy as the Sprenger ones, though IME.

I also have the flexible ones. I love mine. They dont have too much of a flex, but enough to have some “give” to them. I hate riding in any different type of stirrup. Im spoiled now.

I don’t have any but I think the offset ones look awesome!

I have the fixed/regular ones with the cheese graters and love them! The wide foot bed is great–more comfortable on my old feet. I used to use flexible stirrups and they actually made my knees more achy, for what it’s worth.

I have the gray offset ones I picked up at the consignment tack store nearby. I love mine! I never lose my stirrup anymore.
