Are there any opinions on the posts that are just sharing a link without any additional content? I just feel that COTH isn’t really the place for that stuff (coughfacebookcough). I don’t mind if there is a question or conversation with the link from the OP but there have been a lot of them lately and I don’t really think they are beneficial to the forum. Though I could just be a grouchy old lady who is the only one who is annoyed by them…
They annoy me a bit.
One: Subject lines that have relevant information saves time. It also allows people to search for threads later. “Vague” subjects are not useful.
Two: I’m at work. I can’t just click a link with no other info. Often I have to wait for enough replies to know if it is appropriate or not. I know this isn’t a naughty site or anything but some links to go graphic injuries for example.
Just don’t click?

I second this post.
Not clicking them is what I do. Which is clearly a choice. No one is saying it is not a valid choice.
I think the point that is being made is that why have a post with nothing but a link…

I typically don’t even open threads which don’t have a meaninful subject. I figure some people will feel ignored if no one responds, and while there’s no rule against it, if everyone who thinks it’s annoying (and I suspect nearly everyone does!) it will cut down on how much people do it.
