Rumor has it that VSF is canceled this year :(

I own a place in Manchester Center as well as one in Dorset and I belong to our community boards on Facebook. Several members of these groups who are also vendors for the horse show posted that they received word that the Governor has decided that the horse show cannot take place this year due to concerns about the influx of exhibitors from high risk areas into our little town. I have emailed the show to see if they have any updates, but I’m inclined to believe what these folks are saying. They are claiming there will be a press release in the next few days. I am desperately hoping this is not the case, but I can see why the state would be concerned seeing how well we’ve done during the pandemic thus far.

Has anyone else heard anything?

Yup, heard that through the grapevine yesterday also.

I cannot thank the governor enough for protecting our town. Like Lake Placid, there is just no way to adequately space out the stabling and schooling areas, let alone police the bathrooms. And you know how riders cluster on a rainy day. If I lost a single elderly neighbor due ro a careless equestrian sneezing downtown… well you don’t want to see me tearing the USEF a new bunghole.

I can’t think there’s a way to host that many people safely given the local infrastructure. I hope it’s true.

Its officially cancelled.

My trainer was scheduled to judge so was notified today. Don’t think the press release is out yet.

Press release now out. They are looking at the possibility of holding some of the Vermont weeks in Saugerties.

Sad face. :frowning:
