Running martingale?

Can I use a running martingale and a figure 8 noseband?
Thanks in advance from a first time hunter

nvm

Unless your hunt is extremely conservative, no one will say anything about either.

Be that as it may, the best answer comes from the Hunt Secretary or Master/Joint Master.

Whoops, sorry! Wrong forum. My apologies!

Use whatever equipment you need to be safe in the hunt field. I’ve used figure 8’s, runnings, standings, etc. depending on the horse. People will tell you that runnings can get snagged on underbrush more easily than a standing. That’s a lot of manure. Anything can get snagged including runnings, reins, girths, stirrup leathers, etc.

Other people will scream about standings. OMG! your horse will fall down, drown, etc.

If your equipment is well fitted and well adjusted you won’t have problems.

A Consideration…

I would just avoid combining a running with an elevator or gag type bit, they seem to prevent the bit from being able to haul the offending beast’s noggin upwards during those moments where you think perhaps waterskiing is another sport worth trying.
