Finally after a bone scan, X-rays and ultrasound we have found my barrel horse’s NQR hind end issue. Tear in the sacral ligament and deep soft tissue, resulting in dropped hip. Not lame, but does not use hind end correctly when asking for collection or halt.
Vet did PRP into SI joint and injected hip. She recommended other therapies such as massage, acupuncture, magnawave, micro current, ect. Currently he is on strict stall rest for 30 days, then can start hand walking for the next 60. Then recheck to see progression of healing.
I was wondering if anyone else has dealt with this injury and what has worked for them. Do they ever return to compete 100%?
