Well Gerry Trupia shocked the crap out of me and I knew her personally but I too am going to suspend judgment until we get her side of the story.
Iâve known PP for years through various BBs and via friends of friends, and I find this situation appalling. My heart goes out to PP. She would not abandon her animals. And if you look at the pictures, they HAVE hay, and they are NOT in poor condition. I suspect something else is going on. It seems fishy.
SayItAintSo, or Silver Image Farm/Holly, or whoever you are, Iâd tell you to STFU for cross-posting this here on COTH and on other BBs, but I know how much you enjoy that sort of attention from also observing you for years online. Iâm sure youâre laughing right now.
I know I should stay out of this, but I just canât.
PP, I am so sorry, and I hope this gets resolved soon.
Maybe the mods will shut all of this speculation down.
Hi all,
Thanks Daydream Believer for the heads-up.
I spoke with the woman who sponsored Jaimeâs stay at WEG.
What I learned is Jaime heard early today (Friday) about her horses being confiscated. And she was completely blindsided and absolutely devastated.
She immediately arranged to fly out of Kentucky and has made it as far as her parents home in Boston. She should be in Maine tomorrow (Saturday).
So far, sheâs been unable to get any info from Maine AC about where her horses have been taken.
Withholding judgement at this point is a good idea.

I think this is a different news account - if link will work:
http://www.wabi.tv/news/14726/horses-abused-neglected-in-denham
All the reporting has been juvenile - in all aspects. The whole thing including neighbors just stinks.
I donât for a minute believe that PP left her horses to fend for themselves for two weeks. And she was excited about going to WEG - and have this happen.
I hope someone is there to meet her at the airport. She will need help and support.[/QUOTE]
WTF??? There is not a single rib to be palpated let alone seen in that video. Its not like its January and their excessive winter coat is covering skin and bones. I am not saying this is enough evidence to prove everything is ok but every single horse in this clip looked fantastic.
This looks thus far like a quite premature witch hunt to me.
Those horses look fine, other than being enormously stressed and traumatized by their obviously clueless ârescuersâ.
Alas, if you have horses at home, or even multiple pets of any kind, get ready - the odds are increasing day by day that you will see yourself lamblasted likewise in such a giddily broadcasted theme.
Canât blame the news folks, heck, who wants to hear about perfectly adequately cared for animals?
And donât look for the apology or recanting, when it comes to such in 90% of these cases, to be made such a noise about. Who wants to read about that?
PS - donât forget, no matter how anonymous you may think you are on the âinternetâ, most likely a handful know you - and even more likely, the ones that do know you, and have any reason not to like you very much, are going to be the first ones to sound the trumpets when any suspicion of your accusations are scented on the windâŠ
Advice from a nearing decade long Coth member: settle down, try to stay quiet and wait; this is a long time, beloved poster, who will inevitably have another side to this particular story.
Our ex-mare Waterspot was supposed to be heading her way but donât know if she was there yet? Would love to find outâŠBUT I do have to wonder what horses they are worried about for being skinny enough to seizeâŠthey looked pretty wellfedâŠif there was a skinny bay one I missed itâŠbut heckâŠwe had a 29 year old TB mare here that looked like hell her last two years despite bags and bags of senior, pellets, hay cubes, etc.
Iâm hoping to hear more about this and find out truth vs fiction so we know Spot is in a good placeâŠ
Really weirdâŠAnyone with news will you email me directly if you get the chanceâŠ
Thanks!
Andrea
Maybe she has the nicest dump in the neighborhood. Do we know what the neighborsâ properties look like?
While I understand that there are ordinances in nice townships, I doubt that this is one of those. At least not right in PPâs neck of the woods. Itâs obviously zoned for agriculture and the general state of disrepair wasnât mentioned as far as I saw. Did I miss that?
Margaret,
Thanks for trying to contact her tonight. Iâm glad to hear that sheâs almost home now. What a nightmare for her.
Amen and thanks, MAO.
Hoping to be able to give her some phone support soon.
NJR
What a nightmare. The news reports and interviews are so out of sync with the images it is Kafka-esque. We should all hope this doesnât happen to one of us. A witch hunt indeed.
Kafka-esque
Or</a>
[I]Roger...I see you are reading this thread.
YOU must have her number. PM me with it so I can try to help her out. Someone needs to.
You at least owe her that much.

Oh, MY!! SuperGelding just canât WAIT to help out. My, my, my. Iâll just bet!!
He is such a GOD & Legend in his own mind. Heâs all happy now that he has
a horsie he wonât/canât ride, but wants to dress up in fruity pixie costumes.
Remind me to tell you what he had to say about J & her place ⊠after his minion
Kate took him up to Jâs farm, THEN her place of work (stalker-stalker-stalker).
Itâs like asking a coyote âhere. hold this bunny in your mouth for awhile. But donât hurt it.â
When I first opened the link to her website it worked fine. 30 minutes later it didnât work. Just an internet anomaly?
This seems very sad but ongoing issues with animal welfare are not to be taken lightly.
Letâs see what happens when PP gets back online. Iâm sure sheâll fill in the blanks.
Seriously!? The neighbors are âgladâ to see the horses go, because they were caught eating their garden?!! On what planet does this not sound like a setup? âUnder investigationâ for a year could simply mean that paperwork has been filled out due to bitchy neighborâs complaints for a year.
It would be amazing if some of our New England Cothârs could band together and come to aid her.
Those horses might be dirty (please donât look in my pasture tonight ) But they are far from neglected or starved. Seems to me someone was supposed to be taking care of them and was not.
TBH I cared for a set of pastured horses as a teenage went and dropped grain once a day and filled waters and one of the pastures had a horse that loved to dig in the water tanks and kicked plugs out happened everyday ⊠if you were there an hr before I got there ⊠You could swear they had no water.
I think the issue is the previous charges against her, the lack of electricity on the properly, the lack of shelter, and the lack of water. I donât have any problem with horses on field board just eating grass, but do they not have water?
Has a farm sitter or friend not come forward with her contact information and the info of the sitter? I would think someone in the area that knew her would have contacted the authorities and given them her information.
Itâs possible itâs a state law that horses must be provided with a three sided shelter, and itâs also possible animal control doesnât consider the electric fencing safe and suitable if there is no electricity.
If she had arranged things with a sitter, then she will have all that information with her and everything will be ironed out.
I am going to be the voice of dissent here.

This didnât happen âsuddenlyâ. AC did not act âquicklyâ in this case. They claim to have been investigating this situation for at least a year, and have her on record since 2008. She was cited for loose dogs in '08, and cited for animal cruelty in '10. Animal cruelty is not âloose horsesâ. It is not âneglectâ. It is animal cruelty.

PP left the horses for two weeks with a few round bales (adequate feed) under the supervision of a farm sitter that was to visit once per day. Let us all recall the same scenario in Devorah Aikman, whoâs still being thrown under the bus on this very forum. According to her, farm sitter was to blame for the state of the horses. INEXCUSABLE. If you leave for any length of time, you are still responsible for the state of your animals upon return. There are a lot of terrible anecdotes being recited about horrible situations in which farm owners were arguably not responsible for the state of their animals when they came home from a vacation. But these anecdotes concern 2 or 3 day âgetawaysâ. Fortunately, horses donât die of neglect in 2 or 3 days. They absolutely can and do after 2 weeks without water.
-
Stop blaming the neighbors. You donât know their side, either. Weâve all seen pictures of this property. The neighbors say the horses have been loose in their yard on several occasions. PP was cited in â08 for loose dogs. Loose livestock is NOT the neighborsâ problem. Itâs PPâs problem- her fencing is inadequate. There are countless posts on this board lamenting the subject of inadequate animal containment. SSS is typically the suggested solution to loose dogs. Calling AC repeatedly is typically the suggested solution to loose horses. So blame the neighbors for doing you all one nicer and calling AC on the dogs back in the day. And for giving the horses apples instead of chasing them out on the road when they were found in the yard. Those assholesâŠ

PP has a history of posting about her self-approach to vet and farrier care. This works for some people, but if AC has been involved in her operation for the past 2 years, her lack of professional care for her horses very well may be a factor in their case.
-
I will, once again remind you (or inform you) all of the fact that I was the owner of âinadequate fencingâ just once month ago. My horse escaped his 4 board, electric reinforced, several acre large enclosure and headed for the road. He was hit by a car, and injured severely enough to be dispatched by officers at the scene. Despite totaling her car, and suffering pretty severe emotional trauma, the woman that hit him was otherwise uninjured. But guess whose fault it was? MINE. I failed to adequately contain my horse. He had lived on my property for 9 years, was 25 years old, and had NEVER gotten out, yet the ONE time he escaped, he caused a serious accident on a remote country road. He died. The woman that hit him was traumatized. Lots of people got âhurtâ.
PP may mean very well by the horses she owns. She may ânot be crazyâ. But sheâs obviously made some irresponsible decisions that beg serious consideration on behalf of the people the support her on these boards. Bottom line is, she has had problems that led to citations and fines in the past, and she made the decision to leave her horses with inadequate care while she was gone.
It may be time for her to re-evaluate her set-up if she intends to get these horses back.
Yes, the neighbor just was plain strange. It got me thinking about the subtle signs they teach to tell is someone is lying during questioning. The neighbor gave me that feelingâŠ
And while the horses were dirty, they did not look thin. Yes, the place does look a bit overgrown and has a lot of stuff lying around that I would not want on my horse farmâŠbut too early to pass judgment yet.

Yes, one wonders if THAT was a person supposed to check on the horses & fill water tubs, and maybe decided to report as she was not happy with mud, etc.
You can see a water trough clearly in the video. Why in the world would AC not water them and try to find the owner.
this thread just keeps getting weirder and weirder - its like looking into all yâalls closets and seeing some nasty stuff for some of you.
for those that are in touch with PP - i know i am way over here in CA - but if there is ANYTHING i can do please PM me.
for the rest of you that seem to be taking pleasure from all of this - all i can say it that i hope to god karma doesnât decide to look your way.
