i’d like to get a saddle (sandwhich?) bag recommendation from you experienced fox hunters. i don’t plan to use it for foxhunting but would like it to be well made and to preferably match my havana brown saddle.
any suggestions? i recall tack of the day had them on sale a while back but they were suspiciously cheap so i didn’t risk it.
I have a Tory Leather english saddle bag that I’m going to be using this year. I’ve seen them alot in the field. I paid $40 for mine. Better place for my flask than my coat pocket! 
oh tory would work great. i use their bridle in havana brown and it looks good with my saddle.

There’s a faux leather one that I use on most of my saddles during the summer for treats and such. It’s havana brown. It comes up on tack of the day periodically for $15. I have two of them.
I did see them at horse country a lot more expensive. I’m sure you can call Bit of Britain and ask them.

It has served me well through a whole lotta hunting out west. I do still have a sandwich case in a tack trunk in the garage but this is bigger and better w/o being too big.

good to hear the non-leather one serves well. i might get that one. like i said, it’s for carrying ‘stuff’ such as small pocket tool, maybe some treats.
i was riding off the property two days ago when a fawn got its leg caught in an old piece of fencing. it was screaming bloody murder and wrenching its little leg all over the place. i quickly jumped off and went to its help only to find the leg was stuck in a loop of nasty wire so snug that i couldn’t possible pull it out without skinning it. i tried calling the BO’s number but she wasn’t around. i had a moment of panic but luckily BO’s husband heard the fawn crying and came looking. once he got the wire cutters it took only a moment to get the poor thing loose. but imagine if this happened somewhere where i couldn’t get anyone with wire cutters to help? so i made a decision to carry a tool on me at all times that has a knife and wire cutters. hence need for the bag to keep that stuff in attached to the saddle so there is no forgetting it.
If you put a tool in there, keep the point covered. I did have a knippers punch a small hole in my bag. A wire cutters might not be bad as they have a rounded point.
Search previous threads on this. I like Bartville Harness’ sandwich cases and they are well made (Amish) and reasonably priced. Look expensive and proper for a lot less money.
if i recall correctly, problem with bartville is that they have no info online. you have to deal with a paper catalog. i want instant gratification 
Tom’s Saddle shop in Pinedale Wyoming made me and my buds beautiful sandwich cases identical to the expensive English ones for under fifty dollars. I drew a (ahem, fantastic) drawing of a very fine one, sent it to him years ago and he made it. Of course, no metal case nor flask, but most folks take those out anyway.
I have this one from TOTD. Very useful and it looks fine. Our Master uses one, too.
