Saddle fit

i have been trying to find the perfect saddle for me and my Twalker. He is 17 hands tall wide tree and has high withers! Also for me, well so far new trail saddle styles don’t work so well for me. The high cantle and high rise of seat don’t fit me right. Feels like I get pushed forward, more on my crotch then butt! Also legs don’t feel like they hang natural either. Guess what I want is a saddle that feels most like when you ride bareback. My natural alinement. Thanks for any ideas that you may have.

I would recommend locating an independent saddle fitter near you to help fit any saddles you find.
If you don’t mind sharing where you live, that can help if anyone near you is a fitter.
Tucker Saddlery has an excellent customer service that works with add’t fitters, tracings, and custom fits.

I live I sw Nebraska. Saddle fitters or tack stores around here, ha. That’s why I resort to the Internet. Ug??

Several people have posted about good experiences with the folks at the Horse Saddle Shop.

The web site has templates you can print out and match to your horse’s shape and the staff will help you identify saddles that would be good fits.

Thanks, will check it out.

You can also call (for example) Tucker, if you like their saddles, and they will walk you through the process to get tracings and work directly with them.

Ok thanks!

I will have to double check, but on the Facebook group “Only Circle Y saddles for sale” there is an xw gaited one for sale right now. Or have you considered something like a Startrekk? Treeless is about the only way you are going to get that bareback feel. Most models are also really good at hanging your leg where it would naturally go.

Treeless is an excellent option especially if you want the ‘bareback’ feel. I have several you can try…
