Saddle Fitter in Central NC (Dressage and Jumping)

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for a saddle fitter in NC. I am NOT in the market for a brand new saddle and would prefer used. I currently have 2 County dressage saddles (1 needs sold), 1 older Stubben, and a Bates Caprilli. I’m not sure if any of these fit or if I need to sell some and buy something else.

Thanks!

David Young is in upstate SC, and I believe he often works throughout NC. (864) 370-3143 or davidceramics@bellsouth.net. He is excellent, does not rep for a particular brand, and will work with the saddles you have (but will point out any fatal flaws in fit, as well).

David Young is excellent. I have heard nice things about the fitter on staff at M&M Tack Shop too, but I’ve never spoken to her.

Also highly recommend Patty Merli if you can catch her coming through NC. She’s based in SC but she travels a lot up and down the east coast. She is very good–not only does she know her stuff, but she knows how to work with people and really listen to them. She will sell you what you need and want, not what she thinks is best for her bottom line. http://www.pattymerlisaddles.com/

Oh boy! Thanks for the names

David Brooks or Dennis Brooks. David (son) is an independent saddle fitter (used to work for County) and travels. He is DDB Customs, North of Hillsboro. Dennis Brooks, Rocking B Saddlery (father), is in Hillsboro.

David Brooks is very familiar with Countys. He travels too.

Anyone have new contact info for David Young?

Mary Bowles is the fitter out of M & M Tack Shop in Raleigh. I can’t speak more highly of her. She is an independent fitter, but has access to both new and used saddles in a variety of brands.
