Saddle Fitter in Georgia?

Hello, all.

The time has come to purchase a new saddle. I am open to any kind of close contact, but I want it fit my horse WELL. I’ve never had a saddle fitted for him, and plan on the horse to be my last purchase for years to come (ie not concerned about the saddle fitting multiples). Who do you recommend in the state of Georgia? And appx what would one pay for a saddle fitter to come to your farm? We are in south metro Atlanta - Palmetto to be exact.

Further: I’ve heard wonderful things about County saddles and reps, and felt fabulous sitting in a few. Would it be worth it to skip a “generic” saddle fitter and have a rep come straight from County or another brand to suggest a SPECIFIC saddle?

Thanks in advance!

(I’ve read the older threads on this, but they go back to 2009, so I wanted to refresh the topic.)

If you are interested in CWD at all, they have a wonderful saddle fitter here in Georgia! She did an amazing job of finding the right saddle to fit my horse after many failed attempts by other saddle fitters! CWD reps come out at no charge to you, so there is no hurt in giving them a try!

CWD does seem to be a crowd favorite around these parts. Good to know about free cost of the fitting! With my luck, the 5k saddle WILL be the one that fits us both.

The County rep in Georgia is Cindy Adcock and not only is she amazing and passionate, but she is also a good friend of mine! If you already know you are inclined/predisposed to their saddles, I would say you can’t go wrong cutting to the chase and giving her a call.

I love Shirley Fargason. I’ve used her for years and trust her eye. She isn’t afraid to tell you a saddle isn’t working, but I always provides suggestions and potential options. Whenever I get my next horse I will trailer back to Georgia to work with her.

I had a Stubben rep come out to the farm in southeast Georgia for $100. Stubben has several close-contact models.

He was extremely knowledgeable and helpful, and I love my saddle. He is based in Florida but travels through the southeast for Stubben. I filled out a request on the Stubben site, and then he got in touch with me.

My current County rep (who I adore and did a fantastic job fitting my horse and I) highly recommends Cindy

Is she still in Georgia? I know she was the County rep before Cindy… is she doing something else now?

OP - Cindy has been very helpful to me in the past. I have had limited experience with Shirley Fargason, but she seemed knowledgeable and helpful.

I had a wonderful experience with Anne Dupard, the Voltaire rep, who fitted my horse and I with a gorgeous used PJ Delgrange

Give her a call and chat!

The CWD rep for TN, GA and AL is very knowledgeable and does a good job fitting people and horses. She also should have a good list of used saddles available if one of those would fit.

How new is the CWD rep? A friend of mine had a heck of a time with the CWD rep in ATL last year. She couldn’t even tell the saddle bridged.

if you’d like to PM me, I’ll respond with the name of the person I thought had GA, and I know to be a good rep. You can compare that with your friend’s experience. They move reps around occasionally, and I’m not sure how long the person I know has had GA or some part of GA.

Thank you all for your personal experiences. This will help guide me! I’m really leaning towards a County. Planning to ride in my friend’s this weekend to test drive.

Cindy Adcock is the Georgia rep. She comes highly recommended from my VA County rep. If you have liked the County saddles in the past, go straight to her. Their newest model the HJ Solution is DREAMY!!!

Shirley is stationed about 10 minutes from the barn I used to be at in Watkinsville, GA. She is now an independent fitter and is great about working within a budget. My sister is currently in the middle of buying a custom from another brand but will only use Shirley to fit. I certainly hope she’s not going anywhere soon! She’s a gem.

The County Solution with the buffalo leather is the way to go.
And this comes from someone that thought County’s were ugly as sin and contacted County as a last resort to fit my weirdo backed TB.

I’ve been riding in mine for about 2 weeks now and couldn’t be happier.
