Saddle Fitter/Repair for Spirig Monoflap?

I picked up a Spirig monoflap earlier this year, and sent it to a fitter near me to have new billets put on and a have a full reflock done since the rear panels were pretty hard and one of the billets torn. Unfortunately, due to the way the panels are constructed, they were not comfortable taking it apart for fear of not being able to put it back together; the top side of the panels (the part that contacts the saddle) appears to be felt backed or something similar. Definitely not leather. I might be able to squeeze my phone camera in there for a picture.

Can anyone recommend a saddle repair person that is familiar with this type of construction, or with working on Spirig saddles in general? I really like the saddle otherwise but it’s essentially a paperweight until I can get it fixed.

You may have to send it to Michael Spirig. In bot sure if she can do it but my saddle fitter has experience with spirigs and has worked on mine no problem but it’s an older spirig sonkaybe different than yours. Her name is Nancy Schedrick out of New Hampshire.

Any decent saddler shouldn’t have much of a problem. The felt is a fairly standard opitions for a panel topping. You sew it up just like leather.

@sheltona01 After my saddle fitter stopped working (RIP Amanda :broken_heart:), I called in another for reflocking who I had used with good success many years prior. My Frank Baines Operetta is a monoflap with serge panels. Well, this gal had never seen a saddle like this and couldn’t figure out how to access the panels to reflock. I called Amanda and, bless her generous and loving heart, she talked the fitter through it.

Maybe all the OP’s fitter can put in a call to Sprig and Sprig will advise her (or him).
