Saddle Help! understanding old Devoucoux Biarritz models

I am hoping to buy a Devoucoux Biarritz — size 17, flap 1A. I recently did a fitting and liked the “O” (original) and the “Lab” to a lesser extent (but it fit my horse better). I did not like the “Sport” or S model.

New saddles are our of my price range. And I get the sense that the used models the company peddles are also quite pricey for what they are. Looking on eBay, on Facebook, etc and keep coming across the same problem: the older models have different names.

Anyone know what these models translate to? Some are just Biarritz and seem to have no other model name. Is that equivalent to their current model “O”? I have also seen “Oreka” “Socoa” “Oldara”. Does anyone know what these old models translate to?

Has anyone seen a thorough guide on Devoucoux saddles?

Don’t want to spend a fortune buying a super recent model ($$) if the older ones translate well into these newer models with different names. Any saddle experts that can help??

Thanks in advance!

Someone please correct me if I am wrong, but I believe this should be a rough translation of seat depths:
Socoa - flat seat - narrower twist
Biarritz - medium deep - wider twist
Oldara - medium deep - wider twist
Oreka - deep

I’m honestly not 100% certain what the difference is between the Biarritz and Oldara.

I think the knee roll is a bit different but other than that I’m also not sure the difference between Biarritz and Oldara.

New Biarritz O = old Biarritz
New Biarritz S = old Socoa
New Biarritz C = old Oldara, though I don’t see this up on their website anymore

I felt the Biarritz to ride a little deeper than the Oldara, and the flap padding on the Oldara also goes further under your leg. If you liked the O, you want the Biarritz. Before you go TOO old, my horse liked the D3D tree/panel in the Biarritz better than the original, and that’s now standard so probably what you rode in. That came out in 2013 or so (I owned both.) I’m saddle shopping right now and seeing the used grain Biarritz D3D priced between $2000 and $2500.

Purchased from a manufacturer- like Devoucoux’s or CWD’s sites- your saddle purchase payment includes that 30 day trial and their factory review for safety. Unless you know what paneling fits your horse already, since those trials are free shipping and returns, they can allow you to learn this also.
