Saddle Pad Colors in Show Jumping?

Hello all! I recently bought a mare off the track and we’re making great progress. While we’re trapped in an eternal winter here in the PNW, I’ve been making packing lists for Show Season. We’ll be competing Beginner Novice & possibly Novice this year, and I’ve come across a dilemma. Are Navy saddle pads allowed in the Show Jumping phase at recognised Horse Trials? I have a beautiful navy Lemeuix saddle pad with conservative silver piping that I would love to use, but a few friends have told me that I had to wear white. I’m perfectly fine wearing white, but I’d love to use my Navy pad when I can. Thanks in advance!

Things might be different there, but in VA you can use whatever color pad you like for SJ/XC. That said, we are usually attending one day shows and heading straight from SJ to XC. Most of the pros will use white regardless, though.

Sure you can. I usually use my navy blue pad for show jumping and nobody said boo about it.

The USEF eventing rules do not even mention saddle pads.

I’m in the PNW and my stadium pad is navy with a not so conservative flashy gold piping. I’ve never gotten any flack from it (more complements than anything else actually). I have seen black (my backup pad), navy, grey, maroon and dark green.

Thanks everyone! Can’t wait to debut my new saddle pad this summer

I can’t keep white pads white so my SJ pad is black with silver/white piping.
