I have a 1 inch thick wool contoured saddle pad that is too thick, and a 3/4 inch wool contoured pad that leaves sweat marks down my geldings shoulder…not in the wither area, but in the bulkier area down from the withers…My ?? is, would a 1/2 inch pad be too thin?The saddle does fit him well. I’ve looked at the 5 star pads and they don’t seem to offer the 1/2 inch except as a liner…I like the 5 star pads 'cause of the contour design and they fit nicely. Suggestions anyone? Thx. for your input.
Nothing wrong with the liner if it works for you. Dress it up with a blanket if you desire.
Diamond Wool is another alternative.
