Saddle pads for jumping saddle

what does everyone use for their jumping saddles? I have a black country ricochet, 17.5" seat. All the square cotton pads I see aren’t long enough in the spine & I have about 4" from where the square pad ends to the end of the half pad under my saddle. Would like to find something that actually protects the entire saddle! Any ideas?

I can make them if I have to, but really have other things to do if I can find a commercial one…

I like Le Mieux.

Ogilvy is my favorite. The jump pads have a ton of square footage, the baby pads are a little less dramatically forward on the front of the pad. If you have a “regular” flap, aka not a Prelim+ XC style jump saddle, the baby pad will be fine. Both styles are plenty long, don’t budge, and hold up great.

I find the LeMeuix pads bunch up weirdly. Their dressage pads are fine though, so could just be my combo of saddle and horse.

Seconding Ogilvy. I tried some of the European brands (PS of Sweden and Equestrian Stockholm). I found them bulky, difficult to clean, and the material on the undersides tended to rub both horses I tried them on. The Ogilvy baby pads are generously sized, stay put without straps, and are thin so they don’t change the fit of your saddle. They’re also very soft underneath, and they’re easy to toss in the wash and dryer when it’s time to clean them.

Following, also don’t find much that appeals to me right now.

I think the ogilvy and lemieux pads I’ve seen are (sorry) quite ugly. The swedish ones (PSOS and ES) are nice to look at but very thick for summer and difficult to keep up with cleaning wise.

I always have the odd ones here and there that I like - one lettia pad, one eskadron, one waldhausen. Great quality, not too thick and doesn’t attract all the fur in the world. How complicated can it be?

That is what I am using currently & while I like the pad, the spine is about 4" too short & they don’t come in a long that I have seen

We’ve had good luck with Ogilvy baby pads and ES pads. Both have generous wither relief and have plenty of spine length and drop for our boys. I use ES pads exclusively with my jump saddle. They’re durable and wash well.

He’s 16.2-16.3 and medium bone, 17" saddle with a medium Mattes sheepskin pad for size reference.

I really like LeMieux dressage pads but hate the jump cut purely because of how they fit with my saddle. They seem too small (even in size large), and they’re designed for a forward flap and I have a straighter flap. The quality is good, but the fit is not (for my saddle).

Premier Equine saddle pads are quite generous in spine length and hold up really well, I have a couple of the close contact European cotton pads. I think they measure 25-26" or so down the spine. Way longer than my LeMieux pads for sure!

The shaped close contact pads are the best for longer saddles. You don’t need as long of a spine measurement since you don’t have to worry about the flaps hanging off in front like you do with some of the all purpose pads. The B Vertigo Zurich pads are my favorites, and I also have several of the Weatherbeeta Prime shaped jump pads which are a little cheaper.

I ride in 17.5-18" saddles and have had success with my Roma, Waldhausen, PRI, Dura-Tech, etc. pads. I’ve had several of them for many years and they have held up great.

Ogilvy baby pads, hands down. I don’t use anything else

Ogilvy Profile pads are my favourite. I need the more forward cut (compared to the baby pad) as my saddle is a 17.5" long and forward flap.

These are my favourites as well. Billet straps on the profile pad just make for such a nice, tidy and secure fit.

If you really want a generous cut, order direct from ogilvy. They sell larger than normal pads (with a longer spine and slightly longer drop, I think) on their website.

Also here to say Ogilvy pads. The baby pads fit my largest saddles. If you have a really forward flap then the profile pad would work.

I’ve had good luck with the Equifit essential schooling pads. I like the wither relief design better than Ogilvy. https://equifit.net/collections/saddle-pads/products/essential®-square-pad-new-with-colors?variant=40308766146641
