Saddle Recommendation

Due to some on going hip issues I’m looking for recommendations on a new saddle.

Looking for:
Narrow narrow twist
Healthy thigh blocks
Deep seat

Recommendations?

I have a Bliss Loxley with a Slimtech twist upgrade and really love it. The seat is very deep and they have numerous different options for flap placement and block sizes

Recommendations can vary quite a bit. The best thing to do is just try sitting in different saddles until you find what feels right for you.

Whenever someone brings me a list like that, I often find that it doesn’t always mean the saddle will actually be a good fit for them. If it feels right, people often think it’s narrow, but really, it’s all subjective.

The best thing to do is work with an independent fitter what actually understands saddle construction and what can be done to help you.

Totally get that, looking for brands to get started with.

Trilogy, particularly the Verago

I found my Custom Wolfgang Solo to have a super narrow twist - to a point that pretty much anyone who tried it absolutely hated it.

But that might have been just my individual saddle - I bought the demo from my rep as I liked it that much and did not want to risk not liking one made for me specifically and my horse was very fussy about fit and seemed to like this fit.

But YMMV.

Prestige has several models that fit that description. The D1, D2, and Helen series all come to mind, there may be others.

Most brands will have a saddle with those specs. My advice is to focus on choosing your fitter rather than just the brand— a good fitter can really make a difference in your overall experience with any brand.

Wintec Isabel Icon! Adjustable, easy care and reasonably priced, too.

I have a issue with my hip from an accident quite a while ago, so we are at the bone spurs and arthritis stage. I found an older used Albion Platinum Genesis with a narrow seat and it has become my all time favorite saddle. I had one before and sold it when I sold the horse and have had some other brands since, but the Albion Narrow Seat makes a huge difference for me in terms of comfort and better equitation. I went with the Platinum instead of the SLK Ultima since I was told the cantle was a bit lower and the horse I have is a bit low in front. I actually don’t love the big knee blocks that it has, but it does have “healthy” knee blocks.I also had a Hastilow Concept that was very comfortable but it was a very similar style saddle to the Albion, just a smaller saddle overall. Happy hunting and good luck!
