i now have a 3/4 Connie 1/4 tb that is green broke (like 10 rides, 3 of which were by me). He’s fairly easy and I could just use my dressage saddle, but being so green I think i’d like to have a western saddle. Plus I could use it later on for trail riding, etc. I just wondered what I should look for in terms of fit. I put on a Fabtron that I was told was a full quarter horse bar, but it seemed too narrow. Are there any of the western saddles (one of the hybrid leather/synthetic ideally) that have the equivalent of a hoop tree?
Some brands have what is called a Haflinger tree.
