Saddle Seat Size Advice - Prestige Dressage Saddles

I have read everything I can find, but still need some advice. Please

I am looking to get a new dressage saddle. I currently ride in a Stubben Roxane Dressage 17.5". I feel the seat is too shallow and I would do better on my bigger striding horse with a deeper seat and some knee blocks (the Roxane has very minimal) but saying that I feel my Roxane may be a bit small on seat size and if I was getting this same saddle again I would get an 18".

But I am looking at getting a Prestige, since they seem to have a much larger knee block and deeper seat than the Stubbens. I read on VTO that a 17" rides more like a 17.5". What is your experiences? I have asked a couple people who have Prestiges for sale and it seems to all differ, some run small and some run big. This is as bad as shopping for clothes!

I should also say that I ride in the Stubben Roxane jump saddle and it fits me like a glove, I love it for both me and my horse. It is a 17.5" and perfect, I sometimes jump on my friend’s horse and her’s is the same thing just an 18" and I feel like it is just a bit too big. So this just doesn’t help.

It does depend on the model and perhaps age. I sat in one Prestige dressage saddle that was a 17" and found it to be too small. I then sat in another in a 17" and it was fine. I wish I would have taken measurements side by side to see what was really going on.

However, I have always heard that 17 = 17.5 in the Prestige world. I have one I could measure I suppose. It’s an older “Top Dressage” model though.

FWIW I do find that they lock you into a nice position.

My friend has one that is stamped an 18" but measures 18 3/4 almost 19"

If anyone has specific Prestige model dressage saddles and could give me the seat measurement, I would be grateful so I can get a good idea of how each model runs.

I’ve ridden in several and owned some too. It will depend on the model. A 17" Galileo has a flatter, more open seat while an 18" in a Top or Optimax will be deeper, and I need larger in a deeper seat. A 17" flatter seat fits me well while I need an 18" in the deeper models. I’ve ridden several models…is there one you’re thinking of? The Prestige saddles do usually measure slightly larger than the printed size. They are lovely saddles.

I am not set on a certain model yet (I have read the Galileo is flatter, so probably not what I am looking for) but seem to find mostly that the 2000 is in my price range (I have asked about two and one measures 17.5 while the other is about 17.25)

I also have reached out about a Milan but the seller is out of town until next week.

I have a Prestige D1 Zero. 18 is the biggest seat size it comes in and I was dubious because Inusually need an 18.5 but I’m fine in it
