In which, the dinosaur is me, not my horse 😊. It may finally be time to do some saddle shopping - my butt is not fitting into one saddle (that I’ve never liked all that much anyway) and my other saddle is truly starting to wear out. I just cannot wrap my head - or my legs 😂- around all the knee blocks, thigh blocks and deep seats that everyone seems to be riding in now! It felt like luxury to me when I moved onto a padded flap back in the early 2000s 😂
What saddles should I look for in the used, less than 2k range that are more classic close contact style and feel but will upgrade my look to the 21st century? I love my Ashland II but I know the light color alone renders me terribly out of style. My horses are the yin and yang of horse shapes so I will likely end up shimming lots if that makes a difference in recommendations.
