Saddle shops in NYC/Conneticut/New Jersey

I’m saddle shopping and happen to be taking a vacation up to NYC and surrounding area. Any good tack shops I can check out in that area? Would be nice to sit in a few different models. Looking for a saddle for a new 4yr old mare so dressage or jumping saddle would work. Staying with friends in Oradell NJ, hitting the city and then going up further north toward Brewster. Thanks, saddle shopping is exhausting.

RIDE and The Horse Connection in Bedford, NY both carry used inventory, and RIDE also reps for Butet so you can get new through them as well.

If you have tracings, you might want to touch base with Dutchess Saddlery.

If you want something foam, Equitack usually has inventory.

Beval Saddlery is not far from Brewster. Ditto for Old Salem Farm, which might have a horse show with tack shops and saddle dealers set up on the property, depending on when you go.

Good luck. And welcome to the BB!

I think you mean Dutchess Bridle and Saddle?
Kate is one of the smartest people I know.
Can’t recommend her more highly.

Thanks! Appreciate the help, will check those out.

Check out Manhattan Saddlery right in… Manhattan. They do have some nice used saddles, along with an awesome inventory of tack, riding apparel and gifts!

I miss living near Beval sooo much!

I don’t know if it’s still empty, but the last time I drove through New Canaan, it was super weird to see their old site uninhabited.

I can’t even count how many times I had been there over the years.

I feel like I practically lived at the New Canaan store! Is the one on Peach Lake Road still open?

I believe that’s now the only Beval location. I think it was the former North Salem Saddlery? I’m not sure if I’ve been there since it turned into Beval.

I remember buying a helmet there the year they made harnesses a requirement for everybody. That was a while ago by now. Lol.

That’s so sad. I remember driving there from Long Island one year for their annual sale. Thanks to Dover which moved here a number of years ago, two of our local shops went out of business. Manhattan Saddlery is fun although I haven’t been there in years.
