Saddle Sleuths

Are there any saddle sleuths? I’m generally pretty good at being able determine what the mystery saddle is, but this one has me stumped. I have a theory, but curious if anyone else has any ideas?

This is listed as a “No Name” consignment saddle, so I don’t have much more info to provide.

My guess would be some sort of Stubben?

No markings on the flaps or nailheads? My thought from the photo would be an old Barnsby but that’s truly just a guess…

It’s hard to see from the photos available, but it almost looks as if there is some type of celtic knot design. I was thinking an older berney bros.

I am local to that store. I can go get more pics this weekend, especially if there are more markings

I agree it might be a Courbette, I think I coveted that particular saddle back in the day.

what does the marking say on the points?

It reminds me of one of my very first saddles which I still cry over. I wish I were closer so I could go check it out. if @Xctrygirl gets a chance to swing by and can confirm it’s in passable shape and not truly narrow (doesn’t look to be), it will enable me to buy another saddle I don’t need LOL

THAT WOULD BE AWESOME.

I don’t know why I feel like I need to buy it, but I feel like I need to buy it. The only thing stopping me is that I can’t go put my hands on it.

I had a very similar saddle, potentially the same saddle, that got me through all my good times. I could use a budget friendly hack saddle for the babies and green beans.

Happy to help and could likely do a video call to try to give you as much input as you need.

Send me a PM and we can figure things out.

The seat reminds me a little of older Albions.

FYI, I recently ordered a saddle from Rick’s for roughly the same price. When I tried to purchase it online, the page would not complete the transaction. It turns out that the fee they make on less expensive saddles (I can’t remember the price cut-off) is not enough to cover the shipping (the shipping is a flat rate for customers but depending on location can actually cost the company more). So I offered to pay them whatever the difference was in the actual shipping price (it wound up only being a few dollars more), and they completed the sale for me over the phone. They were very helpful, and I absolutely love the saddle (it’s a Thornhill close contact).

@Paisley_Pony makes a good point. I can probably get it shipped for you if it saves you a buck. I LOVE Pirate Ship’s pricing and I have UPS stores everywhere.
