Saddles for the Beyond Wide Cob: expanding the budget

Just wondering if you have tried the Bates Wide model? I have one for my draft x–the gullet plates go to 4XW.

Also, just as an aside, you mentioned ordering from Ebay UK. I’ve bought a used saddle this way. It’s very easy, just make sure you buy from an experienced seller and use PayPal and the chances of fraud are extremely low. (And the exchange rate is good right now).

Good luck!

Kind of an outside the box suggestion, maybe a Bua. Their design lets them fit a wide range of horses and a fitter recommended one for my extremely wide backed massive shoulder pony. There is a dealer in Ontario and you can find them used at a decent price.

They have a tree so rolling isn’t a concern like a treeless.

Have you talked to Heritage yet (in the UK)? They do lots of saddles for cobs. I’ve heard good things about their remote ability to build a saddle to fit. I found one in Ontario for a friend a few years ago, with a hoop tree, and it was a nicely-built saddle. Well under your budget too.

Oops sorry I missed the previous treeless discussion.
I’d completely forgotten about Bua saddles, those might be worth a try.
