SQUEEEE! My Christmas present from my husband is a new dressage saddle! I’m looking for input on two different saddles that have floated to the top for consideration.
I saw the Laser at a show some months ago, and I wondered if anyone had tried it. I liked the way it was constructed and it felt great to sit in, although I haven’t tried it on my horse. I am trying the County Perfection next week and that is likely the direction I’ll go, but I was intrigued by the Laser.

Lasers are really great saddles. They also have the advantage of having the easily adjustable tree. I have used one in my Oldenburg mare and she loved it. And they are very comfortable to sit in.
Lasers are not exactly “off the shelf”. If you order there are options available to suit your needs. I have 2 for a PRE who changes rotundness depending on the time of year. One dressage and one GP. Love that I can adjust the fit for the perfect balance.
Another vote for the Laser. They are so well balanced and easy to ride in. The adjustability of them is an added bonus. Mine has been on everything from a 14.0 pony to a 17.2 big boned Holsteiner.
COUNTY!! I’ve had County saddles for over 15 years. Love my Eventer and earlier this year had the County rep out so I could find a dressage saddle to fit my mare and one I’d love too. We tried several different ones and the Competitor ended up being an instant love. The saddle is spectacular and so luxurious! It was something I had been saving for for quite some time and it was absolutely worth the wait.
There is another horse at the barn that I ride several times a week and I loved my Competitor so much that I had the rep out again to see if he’d go well in one. Hooray - he did! I found a used one so now I am in County heaven. The models are all super different so if you’re able to try out a couple models that’d be my recommendation.
Also, I’m on the skinnier side but took the recommendation of my fitter and got an 18" instead of my usual 17.5" size. That extra half inch works wonders and I’m SO glad I did that! Everything just… flows and both my horses and I ride like rockstars in the saddles. County all the way!

I LOVE my Countys. I currently ride in a Perfection although I recently tried the Fusion and loved it so now I want one of those. I would highly recommend trying a variety of Countys- they are super comfortable and well fitting!
I am riding in the County Perfection/Lisa Wilcox model tomorrow. Can’t wait!
Let us know how it goes and if the Perfection doesn’t WOW you then strongly suggest trying other County models! They are all so different. When you find the right one it just feels right.
I don’t care for the laser at all but it’s all personal preference, really. I lover the county perfection
Wow - I am sold on the Perfection! It gave me an amazing feel of my horse’s back, and real stability in my position up and down hills as well as on the flat. I chose the Perfection tree, the Connection panels, and thigh blocks on velcro to adjust as necessary. I love the Perfection tree as it gives my big-moving youngster more room through the shoulder, and he really loved it as well. What a great Christmas present! Thank you to my wonderful husband!!!

My County Perfection arrived, and it is everything I could have hoped for. It gives me an incredible feel of my horse’s back, and he loves it … really gives him the room he needs to move! I am ecstatic!!!
