Saddles: long femurs + short back (not wide!)

Any tall riders out there with long femurs and short-backed horses? I’m on a saddle hunt for a refined 16.2 WB gelding with fairly prominent withers, well-sprung ribs, and some curve to his short back. What’s working for folks? All the better if it’s something easy to try / good customer service. We’re in the Atlanta area.

Check out the Erreplus thread. It was the only thing that worked for my looong femur, and others are saying it works for short backs although the one to have is not super compact.

Patrick Leggero might be another one to look at. I only got rid of mine because it ended up too wide for my horse.

Just came here to say Erreplus. I have an acquaintance that needed similar specs and she ended up with an Erreplus that she loves. She did have a Prestige on another horse that she was satisfied with too.

Give a shout out to Cindy Adcock, the metro-Atlanta rep for County Saddles. She’s great at fitting the hard-to-fit horse and/or rider.

Throwing my lot in for Erreplus too. I’ve got a very long inseam and a rather short-backed TB with decent withers and he’s happy as a clam in ours.

I’ve been very happy with a Custom saddle, I think the key for us long femur types is short blocks.

I am also looking for something similar. I have a long femur and a short backed PRE that my previous horses’ saddle is too long. I am going to have the Erreplus rep out to demo saddles in two weeks so I’ll let you know how it goes!
