I found this online shop by accident. Anyone know anything about it?
I’m really intrigued by the tooled saddles. I’ve kind of always wanted one but the cheapest I’ve ever seen was $4000. This one is $599. I know, it looks more AP than dressage, but they have others. I suppose the old “if it sounds to good to be true, it usually is”. Thought it was worth asking
I’m always interested in learning about new saddles so I followed your link. I love to browse! I’m also a geek so I read some of the fine print. Yup, the ad is probably too good to be true. The following is from their web site:
“The details of the products or product specifications (for instance weight, color, handwork details, size, etc.) quoted with the product displays are only fairly approximate values. . www.saddlesworld.com in its unconditional discretion, may deliver a similar/alike/alternate product for reasons or constraints beyond its control.”
At least its in the fine print.
I want to see the 12” saddle they’re listing! That would be stupid cute!!!
The grammar errors, the slightly off kilter description, and the unlikely price all suggest scam. Right now there is a whole sector of ripoff overseas companies that steal photos of legitimate brands, and ship laughably crappy merchandise. There are FB groups where people post their purchases and commiserate. Mostly coming out of China right now.
These companies occasionally dip into equestrian clothes or gear.
Went to the site. Some of the saddles are a bit wierd like the endurance or Aussie saddle advertised as dressage. Also they don’t mention tree sizes. The About Us is totally feature less. Most legit equestrian companies have a bit of a story. I would stay far away.
Most likely a company based in India, you’ll see a lot of the hand tooled english saddles for sale on eBay that are from India. They are likely to use pictures of high end saddles in their advertisements. I would not buy from this company. If it sounds too good it probably is. If you are on a budget try HDR saddles, well known, not high quality but good enough if you’re on a budget. The one below gets good reviews.
The Wish of saddles.
Probably get a saddle fit for Barbie’s Dreamhorse
Oh that makes sense. When I tried to click through to the saddlesworld site linked here I got a page of saris and jewelry.
We’ve had discussions on COTH about how India, specifically the non Hindu parts of it, developed a decent tack industry under British colonial rule and how British manufacturers still use Indian factories.
Generally the overseas knockoff industries as well as the designer fakes come from places that are already manufacturing the item for export.
The terms and conditions usually tell the story;
" INTERNATIONAL USERS AND CHOICE OF LAW: BPO Partners makes no representation that materials at this service are appropriate or available for use at other locations outside of India and access to them from territories where their contents are illegal is prohibited. You may not use the Web Service or export the Materials in violation of any applicable export laws and regulations. If you access this Service from a location outside of India, you are responsible for compliance with all local laws. These Terms of Use shall be governed by the laws of India, without giving effect to its conflict of laws provisions."
Haha, I guess a sort of polite way of saying…sucker!
I had emailed them but never heard back. I guess after really reading the fine print that makes sense.
