Been looking at a lot of different saddles. Im really thinking of the synthetic saddles. Pros and cons of the synthetic?? I like them because they are light and easier for me to carry.
I had an Abetta once, sold it as quickly as I could. The fenders were awful. They were stiff and didn’t conform or wrap around the leg like leather ones do. I also found myself fighting the saddle a lot. Everything about it just seemed cheaply made. Maybe their newer stuff is better, I know there are a lot of trail riders that prefer synthetic, but I am not a fan.

Doesn’t he come with his own saddle?

Oh.
It would be best to wait to buy a saddle.
Saddle will need to be fitted to your unbroke horse. Make sure it fits you and him.
Synthetic works well and seem to have more of a grip. You may need that…
All I know is it better be blue.
I’m a self-proclaimed leather snob and I refuse to put synthetic tack on my horses. It doesn’t feel right, it smells wrong and (I think) it rides weird. I’d rather pay more for a leather saddle.
That being said, I am picky about leather saddles too. I don’t like hard leather and cardboard leather makes me cringe. My current saddle has beautiful, soft leather and that was the deciding factor in me buying it. It fit me and my horse well, but so did other saddles… this one just had the nicest leather I’ve ever felt. It’s currently in my living room for winter and I find myself petting it often.

Thank you for your helpful insight. I honestly haven’t really considered leather. There is a saddle shop not too far from the property and ill go take a look one of these days and i will definitely take a look at the different leathers.
Just in case you’re real - I love my Corriente Association saddle. www.corrientesaddleco.com
It probably weighs north of 40 lbs, but it’s comfy and fits my horse well. It also looks great.
